The IxDA is a novel kind of “un-organization” and there is no cost for membership. IxDA relies on its passionate members to help serve the needs of the international Interaction Design community. With over 10,000 members and almost 70 local groups around the world, the IxDA network actively focuses on interaction design issues for the practitioner, no matter his or her level of experience.
History of the IxDA
The Interaction Design Association was founded in 2003 by Rick Cecil, David Heller, Challis Hodge, and Jim Jarrett in response to Bruce "Tog" Tognazzini's impassioned plea to the interaction design community to create a nonprofit professional association to address the challenges that interaction designers encounter in their professional lives. The Interaction Design Association is the result of that early collaboration and efforts of various other steering committee members. We officially incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in late 2005 and today we continue to thrive as a member-supported community.

IxDA intends to improve the human condition by advancing the discipline of Interaction Design. To do this, we foster a community of people that choose to come together to support this intention. IxDA relies on individual initiative, contribution, sharing and self-organization as the primary means for us to achieve our goals.
